note: before i start i'm going to do something rather daring and new in my blog, so tell me if you notice a difference and see if you like it, or give it thumbs down. and thanks to alice for proofreading my entries...you punk monkey
Well it's been a few days since VBS (vacation bible study/school) ended at my hometown church (which is in Florida). The theme for this summer was "The Incredible Race", something about cars and running the race of life. I guess I've recovered a bit from the traumatization of being in charge of taking care of elementary and pre-K kids. Let me tell you, they are quite a handful. I've done this before when I volunteered for VBS in previous summers. But I guess this time I was promoted to "racing team supervisor", which is someone who is in charge of about 3 leaders who in turn are in charge of about 5 kids who in turn don't believe that anyone is the boss of them now unless it's their mom who in turn just dropped their kids off at the church and let them loose which in turn means...MASS CHAOS. Yea I know, there's a lot of turning involved. Pretty crazy.
What fascinated me the most in those few days of being in charge of my own little army...er I mean adorable children...was the psychology and mentality of them. The way they think at such a young age proved to be an intriguing study. Actually what was more entertaining was just messing with their heads and bribing them with prizes that 1.) I actually had no idea what to give them, so I instead promised them the possiblity of "candy" and 2.) I really had no intention of giving them "candy" because I would just eat it myself anyways. The promise of holding our team flag (the Orange G.T.O.s) always seemed like a worthy award to them, probably because it allows them to be bigger and more important than the rest of the group when they raise it in the air for all to see. And of course, being such small kids, they were easily entertained, distracted, and moody. There was a 50% chance of them actually listening to you, and a 50% chance of that actually staying that way. I must say, taking care of kids is almost as hard as taking care of pets...or drunk people.
Heh heh, drunk people. Oh how they amuse me. But enough dwelling on the past, I just hope I won't have to do it as much in the future. Hopefully I won't get myself into those rather awkward situations again.
What is pretty awkward is this new writing style I'm trying. It seems to be very popular in all blogs, but for some reason it seems like extra work to me. I will probably revert to my old writing style after this entry. But now I must continue studying for my upcoming History final exam, and of course enjoy my last few weeks at Florida chilling with my familia and homedawgs/girls. Chilling is going to rather difficult since the usual temperature around here is 90+ degrees with humidity and the bed room airconditioning is broken.
Hot stuff I tell you.
